Sidewalk Snow Removal
WINTER IS HERE! The Township would like to remind ALL property owners/occupiers that they are responsible for the removal of snow, ice, and sleet from sidewalks on and adjoining their property within 3 hours of the winter event. Snow, ice, sleet removed from sidewalks or driveways must NOT be shoveled onto public (Township, County or State) roadways or next to fire hydrants. Please do your part to ensure our paths are safe. Who Plows the Roads?
Blair County maintains Bedford Street and Everett Road (CR101). The County’s Ordinance 1-98 has been updated with County Ordinance 1-2019. Once the County declares winter weather parking restrictions, special parking is required on Bedford Street between Polecat Hollow Road and Oakdale Road. All motor vehicles shall be parked on the east side (same side as the post office) of the street beginning at 8:00 p.m. in the evening, and the west side (same side as the library) of the street beginning at 8:00 a.m. in the morning. When a vehicle is in violation of the County ordinance, the vehicle can be towed, as well as fined. PennDOT is responsible for approximately 40 miles of roads in our Township and plows the following state roads:
